Китай има намерение да стане първата страна в света, която ще построи космическа електростанция в околоземна орбита на височина 36 000 км. Това съобщават средствата за масова информация в страната. Планирано е в периода между 2012 и 2025 г. китайските учени да пуснат в стратосферата първите неголеми станции за събиране на слънчева енергия. През 2030 г. ще бъде пусната друга станция – с мощност 1 МВт. До 2050 г. плановете са за гигаватова електростанция, пише Engadget.
Тези космически слънчеви електростанции биха могли да бъдат неизчерпаем източник на чиста енергия, независими от климата и от кое време на денонощието е. Те може да бъдат 6 пъти по-ефективни от наземните аналози.
Китайската академия за космически технологии предлага да преобразува слънчевата енергия в електрическа още в космоса. След това с помощта на микровълни или лазери тя ще бъде предавана на наземна станция. За реализацията на плана е необходимо да бъдат разрешени някои технически проблеми.
Първият от тях е масата на електростанцията – тя трябва да бъде около 1000 тона. Да се изведе толкова тежко оборудване в космоса е сложно.
Второ, необходимо е да се изучи влиянето на микровълновото лъчение върху атмосферата. В момента китайските учени разглеждат варианти с използването на роботи и 3D печат за строителството на електростанция в космоса.
Китай не е първата страна с такива амбициозни планове. През последното десетилетия въпросът се изучава и от Япония, която през 2015 г. успя да постигне известни успехи в безжичното предаване на енергия. Миналата година пък учени от Калифорнийския технически институт създадоха прототип на апарат, способен да улавя слънчевата енергия в космоса и да я предава към Земята.
