Според информация на DigiTimes, Huawei чрез филиала си HiSilicon се подготвя да премине към производството на чипсети за смартфони по 7nm процес. Това означава, че следващото поколение чипсет Kirin 980 най-вероятно ще дебютира със следващото попълнение в серията смартфони Mate по-късно през годината. Kirin 980 ще включва и подобрен AI чип от Cambricon.
Очаква се новият производствен процес да доведе до 20% по-висока производителност и до 40% повишение при енергийната ефективност спрямо настоящите мобилни чипсети.
